Ukraine: Pidpenyok

I expected this dish to be good (I like all the ingredients involved), but was surprised by how good it turned out to be. An inadvertent "Mmmmm!" escaped from my lips during the first taste.
My favorite part of keeping this blog is finding recipes that use my favorite ingredients, that I would never think to put together on my own. Without further ado, here is how to take mushrooms, sour cream, garlic, onion and dill, and turn them into something fantastic!

Ingredients:
2 tbsp. butter
2 cloves garlic, minced
.5 small onion, chopped
8 oz. mushrooms, sliced (I used cremini, but most varieties will work)
8 oz. sour cream
Approximately 2 tbsp. flour
Fresh dill

Step 1: Sauté garlic and onion in the butter.
Step 2: Add mushrooms and cook approximately 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Step 3: Add sour cream, and then flour to thicken
Step 4: Keep stirring as mixture heats.
Step 5: Serve over boiled potatoes and top with a generous portion of fresh dill.

Side note: If you don't like dill or don't have it on hand, skip it and serve this over egg noodles instead of potatoes for a delicious alternative!
