United Arab Emirates: Fried Fish

Don't ask me what I'm doing up at 4:30 a.m. blogging about fried fish. To each his/ (her) own.

What separates this Emirati dish from other fried fish is the spice blend. I used black cod steak because that's what was available at the market, but you can use any firm, white fish. I paired it with sautéed kale, but that's just a personal preference; serve with your choice of vegetable and/or over rice!
Ingredients:
1/2 pound white, firm fish
Oil for deep frying
1 teaspoon garam masala (you can substitute curry powder)
1 teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon salt

Step 1: Mix spices together in a bowl.
Step 2: Rinse fish and pat dry.
Step 3: Coat fish in spices and rub in. Let this sit for about 30 minutes.
Step 4: Heat oil, and fry fish for 5 minutes on each side.
Step 5: Transfer fish to paper towel to remove excess oil.

I love fried fish. Thanks to Emiratican Kitchen for the recipe.
